End User Licence Agreement
Last updated 12 October 2026
1. About this agreement
This agreement is between you and Defuse Audio, the trading name of Anthony Hawley, a sole trader based in England ("we", "us"). It covers all Defuse Audio software, including any sounds, presets or other content included with it, documentation and any updates we provide (together, "the Software"). By installing, activating or using the Software you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it.
2. Your licence
When you buy a licence, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software on up to three computers that you own or control, activated with your Defuse Audio account. You can move an activation from one computer to another by deactivating it first.
The demo version is licensed for evaluation only, for the trial period shown in the Software. It may stop working when the trial ends unless you buy a licence.
We license the Software to you; we don't sell it. We and our licensors keep all rights not expressly granted to you.
Purchases are processed by our online reseller, Moonbase, which acts as merchant of record: it takes payment and handles sales tax and VAT, and its terms of sale apply to the transaction. This agreement covers your use of the Software.
3. The music you make is yours
You own the audio you create with the Software. You may use it, including sounds made with any content included with the Software, in your own music and productions, commercially or not, with no royalties or credit required.
You may not redistribute content included with the Software (such as samples or presets) as it is, on its own or as part of another product, whether free or paid.
4. What you may not do
- Share, sell, rent, lend, sublicense or otherwise transfer your licence, licence key or account access to anyone else.
- Copy or distribute the Software, except for a reasonable number of backup copies for your own use.
- Remove, bypass or interfere with licensing, activation or copy protection.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent the law expressly allows despite this restriction.
- Use the Software to build a competing product.
5. Activation and online checks
The Software needs to be activated online, and checks its licence from time to time. If it can't connect for a while it keeps working for a grace period. Activation uses our licensing and store provider, Moonbase. Our privacy policy explains what information this involves.
6. Updates
Updates we publish for the Software are free for licence holders. We may change, improve or remove features in updates. We aim to support the Software on the operating systems and hosts listed on its product page, but can't guarantee compatibility with future systems we haven't released an update for.
7. Third-party components
The Software includes open-source and third-party components, each used under its own licence. Those licences are included with the Software. Nothing in this agreement limits your rights under them.
8. Our responsibility to you
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty or not as described, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing in this agreement affects those rights.
Beyond those rights, the Software is provided as is. Please keep backups of your projects and samples: we aren't responsible for loss of data, loss of profit or business, or any loss that wasn't reasonably foreseeable. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Software is limited to the price you paid for it.
We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
9. Ending this licence
If you break these terms in a serious way, we may end your licence by telling you, and you must then uninstall the Software. If you received a refund for your purchase, your licence ends and we may deactivate it.
10. General
If any part of this agreement is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may update this agreement for future versions; the version that applied when you accepted it continues to apply to that version of the Software.
This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there.
